For the placesetting, I used some striped placemats and an orangey-red napkin, also from Crate and Barrel, and a yellow dinner plate from Pier 1, along with my usual silver and everyday glasses.
For a table featuring pears, what's needed for a centerpiece? Yep, some actual pears. I began with this fun candleholder that my mother gave me for Christmas one year after I admired it at Little Rock's wonderful Fifth Season gift shop.
Here's a closer look. Love the colors of these pears!
Here's a look at more of the table.
Then I decided to try something different with the pears. Using some of the flowers and berries from last week's centerpiece, I arranged pears in a vintage yellow casserole.
Here's a closeup of the fruit, flowers, and berries.
And here's how the table looked with this centerpiece and candles in old brass candlesticks. Which look do you like better?

I like the candles and pears. Boy do they compliment those beautiful plates.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a draw! I love the way you did the pears on the candlestick, it's so clever. But the ones in the casserole looked pretty with the flowers. Either way, great looking, and I think those pear dishes are some I'd like to have!
ReplyDeleteHi Tricia, I like both centerpieces but the first would certainly be fun to talk about during dinner! I also like those glasses. Oh dear, I'm glad I don't have a C&B outlet near me because I would have to go and buy those dishes. :) Linda
ReplyDeleteWhat a great table! Personally I'm lovin' the wrought iron centerpiece with the pears in place of some candles, really neat:@)

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely plates. You did such a nice job on both centerpieces. I love the color of the flowers mirrored in the blush on the pears, but I love how unusual the pears and candles are. How fun that you showed us both. I bet you can't wait to bite into those gorgeous pears. I couldn't.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the pears! And the placemats looks so good with all the plates and actual pears! I so wish I had a Crate & Barrel outlet near me!

I love the pear plates. It seems like early fall with the table colors. I enjoy both of the centerpieces. The candleholder and pears is very dramatic while, the bowl of pears is soft and pretty.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun, welcoming table! I have those same napkins, but I love how you've paired them with the yellow. I'll have to try that! I like that your table reflects the changing season without being too much about Fall. Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great "harvesty" table...It feels like fall but softer!

ReplyDeleteWhat an inviting tablescape. Perfect for a Luncheon with friends. I have a candle holder similar to the one you're using here. What a great idea to use the pears along with the candles. I will certainly do this with other items such as Apples, Grapes, or whatever will go with my tablescapes. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteTricia, I really like both centerpieces. And why'd you say if we "need" those cute pear dessert plates, especially to dish-a-holics? You know we think they are adorable.
