Wedgwood Potpourri

This week's tablescape was inspired by some navy blue linen hemstitched placemats I found on final sale at Pottery Barn recently.  Navy is such a versatile color that I knew I'd find multiple uses for them.  For the placemats' dining room debut, I chose my mother-in-law's Wedgwood Potpourri, a pattern I just love.  Two years after she passed away, my father-in-law moved to an independent living apartment and gave me this beautiful set of dishes.  I've posted two other tables set with this pattern, a breakfast table and a dinner table highlighting the deep reds in the pattern. Here's the dinner plate in this pattern.

The pattern is very detailed, with fruit and flowers and birds.

For the placesetting, I'm using the dinner plate and the cream soup and saucer, as well as blue water goblets. The flatware is my sterling with silverplate soup spoons from my in-laws' collection.
Here's another angle.

The blue goblets are a recent purchase, and they also go with my everyday dishes.

For the centerpiece, I'm using a silverplate candelabra with cream beeswax candles and silverplate mint julep cups filled with pink and white alstroemeria.

Here are a few more shots of this table.

The details:
China:  Wedgwood Queensware Potpourri
Glassware:  Villeroy & Boch My Garden in blue
Silver:  Lunt Belvedere
Silverplate:  William A Rogers Park Lane
Placemats:  Pottery Barn

Thank you for visiting my table this week!  I hope you will leave a comment before you leave to visit all the wonderful tablescapes at Susan's Between Naps on the Porch!

  11. I love navy blue but rarely use it. I'm not sure why not. Hmmmm....? You did an amazing job with it here! That china is the perfect inspiration!

  12. Hi Tricia, I remember those previous tablescapes as I was so taken by this beautiful china! I can't believe how versatile it is! Even though your breakfast table was blue it was much more casual and the china still worked so well. And the red was unbelievable. You are lucky to have this gorgeous china and you use it so well. I have those blue PB placemats but I'm having trouble using them. They always seem so dark on my table. I think I'll try again! Linda

  18. Tricia, this is a beautiful table! My college roommate chose this china pattern for her wedding in 1970 and I have loved it ever since. It is one of my all time favorite china patterns. I love all things Williamsburg because my hubby and I have been visiting there for nearly 40 years.
    Great tablescape!

  25. There's so much to like on this table! I really like your new blue goblets. The china is beautiful. I love how you displayed the alstroemeria. I have only one julep cup but I think I need another one, just so I can do something like this. The complete tablescape is beautiful! Thoughtful, elegant and shows your uncanny restraint. Well done!

  26. Did you do something to make the Alstromeria look so crisp and perky? Mine always look a touch droopy. I adore the Edwardian design in your Wedgwood Potpourri...such an elegant pattern...all the more special because it's a family treasure. This beautiful tablescape really captured my attention. Thank you for sharing your lovely design and for stopping by my post. Cherry Kay

  30. Tricia, I love all of the details on this table! I'm a huge lover of Wedgwood so those chinoiserie plates really caught my eye, and how lovely that they were your MIL's. I like your new goblets you found to go with them and the linens as well. I love to use julep cups for flowers, too, and I think they add just the right pop to a table as evidenced here. Your candlelabras just set the whole thing off. Great job!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  36. I love your profile words. I too had a great childhood and married a good one and have a great family. I say I like the Merry Go ROund. The same everyday. May be boring to some but to me I love taking care of the family and don't need drama in my life to find it fulfilling. We are the lucky ones right?
