Red and White for February

How can it be February already?  This time of year I like to pull out my first set of everyday dishes, Royal Doulton's Fireglow, chosen back in 1972 when we married.  We used them daily for 25 years, so they would definitely be classified as "discounted due to slight imperfections" by Replacements.com, but I still like them!

This table is set in the breakfast area, on our new round table.  Since we've never had a round table before, I haven't had any round tablecloths.  I remedied that situation a couple of weeks ago when we visited a Home Goods in Houston. This one was in the Clearance section, marked down to $7.

I've sandwiched a plain red salad plate between the Fireglow dinner plate and salad plate topped with a ramekin, and I'm using my Georgian-Ruby goblets.
The little ramekins are my favorite pieces in this pattern.
Here you can see the dinner plate alone, as well as my silver, Lunt Belvedere. The red-bordered napkins were originally $18.75 EACH, if you can imagine, but I got them for $1.99 each at the Bloomingdale's Home store in Chicago last summer.  I believe that's my best bargain ever!
And here's a "rim shot," so you can see the flower at the base of the fork matches one of the posies in the china pattern.
A bird's eye view. . . .
For a centerpiece, I placed white tulips into several bud vases (purchased for tables at my son's rehearsal dinner in December) set atop a white serving plate.  You can also see some of my red and white pieces on the baker's rack in the background.
Thank you for visiting my table this week!  I hope you will leave a comment before you leave to visit all the wonderful tablescapes at Susan's Between Naps on the Porch!

  3. The fireglow is so pretty. I have never seen it before and it looks perfect on a red and white table for V-Day! I love those red glasses and what a bargain on both the tablecloth and the napkins! Love all the red and white dishes too on the baker's rack. Joni

  4. Isn't it amazing how placing the solid red plate in between your dishes changes the whole look. It makes it so much more "interesting". Your dishes are very pretty, as are your gorgeous red goblets and Oh!That silverware! Just a lovely table.
Wow, you did get a deal on those napkins. Was that in the regular Bloomingdale's store or an outlet where you found those?? My daughter lives in Chicago.

    Love this tablescape!

  5. Hi Trisha...

What a beautiful table you've set, my friend! I love the red and white paired together and just in time for Valentine's Day! Love your pretty place settings! This is the first time that I've seen this china pattern...it's lovely! What I really like about it is...all the different colored flowers around the rim of the plate...and this pattern has a bit of a "Dutch" feel to it...love it! Beautiful table linens as well! What a great deal you got on the dinner napkins...they really are gorgeous! Well dear lady, the tulip centerpiece is the "icing on the cake" for your pretty table! Thank you for sharing this lovely red and white table with us today!

    Warmest winter wishes,

  6. $18.95 for one napkin...a little steep for this thrifty girl...they are so pretty, though. Beautiful table, Tricia. I really love that tablecloth, red is a hard color for me to find something I really like in linens.

  7. What a great get on those wonderful napkins! I had to smile because you and I operated with the same mind set when choosing wedding tabletop patterns. I chose my silver, crystal, and china because of the predominant design motif in each one...a filigree pattern. Your table is lovely, and I love your new round table. I want to go back and take a closer peak at your display behind the table. Everything is so well done. Thank you for sharing your design and for stopping by my post. Cherry Kay

  22. Hi Tricia, I think round tables are so friendly. I used to have one in a kitchen, but for space reasons I switched to a rectangle! Your red table is so cheery in this horrible weather, and so are your wedding dishes! Linda

  24. Hi, Tricia... Happy Tablescape Thursday!

I love your new round table, and that is a great price on that cloth. Wish I could find one here like that. I always love your flatware, and I think it's so neat that it matches the flower in the ramekin. That border is SO pretty. And what a great deal on that pretty napkin, too!

Love the way you grouped the tulips in different glass vases. That is just a classic centerpiece. This is just charming, and I love your wallpaper, too!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  26. The red really sets off the china -- I love everything. I have been slowly collecting some round cloths, too. HG, TJXX -- they always have the best ones for the money. I find April Cornell there every now and then!

  27. Hi Trish!

So beautiful settings. You always find those gorgeous finds, huh? I love the flatwares the most. I guess, the reason is that, it's not usual in Sweden with using like that. I don't know their way. Scandinavian lover minimalism but I love knick-knacks §;-)

Happy TS, Lady and hope you have a great w/end to come.

    Hugs,

I just read your comment on my blog. Thank you for stopping by. Are you so sad D.A. is over for now? Will you be watching "Upstairs, Downstairs"? Did you watch the original? I can't wait!! I just bought a Julian Fellowes novel (PAST IMPERFECT). I am watching "Gosford Park" again this weekend. Do you think I'm having D.A. withdrawal? Don't you just love Maggie Smith? Sorry for rambling...

This is a very pretty table. I love how you used tulips (my favorite flower, used them in my wedding bouquet) to remind us spring is coming soon. The pattern on your dishes compliment your wallpaper! And your tablecloth, what a deal! I never seem to be in stores at the right times!

Everything's beautiful! Thanks for stopping by to visit me recently. Always appreciated!
