Halloween Breakfast for the Grandchildren

This Halloween breakfast table was set with our adorable grandchildren in mind.
.

Both of them are early risers, and when they're visiting, they like their breakfast as soon as they come into the kitchen. The inspiration for this table came from these cute ghost tealights from Crate & Barrel.

.
Since candy is essential on Halloween, why not start the day off right with some candy corn?

Or, perhaps you prefer candy pumpkins, as I do?  The nutritional rules are different at Grandmama's house!

The simple placesetting includes plain white and orange plates, individual bakers, and white napkins tied with ribbon.  I used both black and white gingham and candy-corn print ribbons.

Here's a view of the table.  Since the children are up well before daylight, we may very well light the candles!  The Halloween print fabric I'm using was purchased for my daughter's birthday party back in 1990.  I think I've gotten my money's worth, don't you?

On the right, the same fabric lines a black and orange basket we'll use for muffins.

Thank you for visiting my table this week!

I hope you will leave a comment before you leave to visit all the wonderful tablescapes at Susan's Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch!

  1. Well, you can call it candy corn FLAKES! Yeah...that's it!

I love your table and think it's so cute that you did it up with candy for the grandkids. The gingham on the napkins gave it a breakfasty feel too for some reason. You're right about nutritional value. It's all "good" when it comes from Grandma's table.

    Happy Halloween breakfast to all!

  2. Well, Tricia, I think you will definitely be the favorite Grandmama after this breakfast! And I don't think Halloween fabrics ever go out of style! The black and white gingham ribbon is the perfect final touch. Happy Halloween! Linda

  3. Oooh, they are cuties for sure, those two! I can't wait to have Grandsies to give candy to at breakfast. But wait, isn't that really the same as the French toast I'm giving the teens already? :))) I might have to add some sugary pumpkins this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration, and have a wonderful holiday with those darlings!
    Cheers, Andrea

  13. What a great grammy you are! I just love to surprise my little grandsons with the silly factor. As long as they remain polite, the rules are greatly relaxed at our house. I let them go swimming before their popcicle breakfast. How's that for fun?

  15. I needed a grandma like this! My grandkids think sugar is one of the main food groups at my house! But corn and pumpkin, those are good veggies to start with. I love the little ghost candle to set the mood. Fun fun!

  28. Adorable. I love the simplicity of it all. I still have kids at home and I'm finding it difficult to find time to get up into the attic to bring down the Halloween decorations this year! Shame on me - and I'm a decorator! I'm finding you by way of Tablescape Thursdays, I'm crashing the party - but if I decide to enter a new post, then I won't be a crasher anymore. I'm following you now and look forward to your future posts!

  31. Oh my gosh I wish you were my grandmother!! I love the orange pitcher and I love the candles centerpiece. How sweet. Your grandchildren must have been very happy to wake up at your house! And, if their parents were there they must have been quite pleased to be able to sleep in.

  34. You are such a great Grandma! I'm the Grandmother kids think are weird because I make "treats" out of fruits and vegetable and expect them to accept that! Oh, well...I do try! Although it would probably not be a bad idea to get revenge on our kids by filling THEIR kids up with candy and then sending them home! :-))) I hope you and your family enjoy a safe and happy Halloween!
