The inspiration for this table was a set of these cute nests my youngest sister sent me last spring. I used them last year for a casual outdoor table, but I wanted to try them with my wedding china for Easter this year.
The pale turquoise eggs bring out the turquoise centers of the flowers in the china pattern. My sister also gave me the brown placemats, which echoed the color and texture of the nests.
Once I had the places set, I started to think about a centerpiece. I decided to go with a bright contrasting color, and I found these hot pink carnations at HEB. Five fit nicely into each julep cup.
Four of the smallest blossoms were placed in the napkin rings, a gift from my daughter. They hold turquoise napkins.
Here's a view of the tabletop. Tall cream-colored candleholders and pillar candles add some height.
Here are some more views of the table.
Here are the details:
China: Lenox Windsong
Crystal: Lenox Moonspun
Sterling: Lunt Belvedere
Placemats, nests, and napkin rings: Color (Nashville)
Tablecloth: formerly my mother-in-law's
Napkins and candles: Pier 1
Julep cups: Fifth Season (Little Rock)
Candleholders: gift shop (Salado, TX)

Tricia, the bird nests add that special touch to your lovely table. I have the same candle holders, in green...they do add a lot of height to the table.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
I love this table! The nests are so seasonal and they look perfect with your place mats and china. I have my computer back with the good screen so I can see what lovely photos you have taken. Love the flowers too and thos little napkin rings that hold the flowers. Joni
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes!!! Love the height you gave the table with the outer candlesticks!!!! Terrific!!!!!!!!!!! This is really cool with the bird's nests and placemats going hand in hand while the blue of the eggs is so neatly paired with the flowers in the china! I'm really lovin' it! You did an outstanding job of repeating the element of the hot pink carnations to bring color and texture to the whole table. Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table, Tricia. Birds' nest definitely say spring for me. Hope you are enjoying some garden time. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis table is just lovely. The nests add the perfect spring/Easter season touch.

I have always admired your wedding china pattern, and I really like the contrast between its formalness and the casualness of your chargers. The bird nests bring it all together. The color of the flowers that you used shout SPRING! Happy Easter to you and yours!
ReplyDeletePerfect! Martha S. herself could not have done any better. I still think that china is such an elegant pattern and you have done some really creative settings with it.
ReplyDeleteYour china and crystal are beautiful. I love Lenox. The nests are simply adorable. The pink flowers really add some pizazz. I really like those tall candlesticks, too. This is my second peek, as I was here last night but my computer decided to not open the comment box. Lucky for me, because I got to come back!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful tablescape! I absolutely love the Lenox Windsong china. Such a lovely pattern but then I adore Lenox china. The nests tie everything together.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Trish,

Hi Trish, your chargers and the nests work so well with your beautiful china. It is a very nice pattern--similar in color to my wedding china, even with the silver rims. I was married in 1980 and I think this was definitely the trend in the late 70s and early 80s. Happy Easter to you and your family. Linda
ReplyDeleteHi Tricia! You make the most beautiful and elegant tables and yet so simple! I love your place mats, they paired great with the adorable nests your sister gifted you with. I love your pretty wedding china, that's why your table turned out so elegant for Easter. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteHave a very blessed EASTER SUNDAY.

Such a beautiful table. I love the placemats. They go so well with the nests. The color of the eggs makes the blue pop in the plates. Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteYour table is beautiful & being a self-professed dishoholic I can appreciate all the work, thought and care put into your lovely table. What I truly like is the organic feel the placemats and birds nests add to your stunning china and sterling - I think it looks beautiful!

Anything with eggs and nests is going to get my attention. You have outdone yourself this time around with a wonderful mix of textures.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful setting. The nests are so lovely with the blues and natural textures. Love those placemats too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely table with the rests and your blues. Great post, thanks for sharing and for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteLovely table with the nests and so pretty plates. You did a beautiful job.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by my blog and your kind words.

I was away from Blog Land all last week so I had missed this. I really love your wedding china, and it looks just beautiful sandwiched between that whimsical charger and and nest. I love my Shenendoah, but I wish it had a white background like yours instead of ivory. White is just crisp and elegant. Of course, I love your Moonspun!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Tricia, very elegant!
ReplyDeleteTricia, this is so pretty. I think I need your sister to be my personal shopper. Love those place mats and the bird nests. Your china picks up that blue color of the eggs perfectly, and I love the julep cups for the flowers. Every time I see your crystal and your flatware, I am amazed at our similar choices. What great napkin rings! laurie
